From the inside

 Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your interest in the Newsletter for Pet Search. My name is Lee Jefferies and I am the manager of Pet Search.  Like our website, our newsletter is growing and we are always looking for stories and articles.  I will be editing this newsletter so if you are interested in how to submit articles, etc, please contact me via email at help@petsearch.com.au

Any ideas you have can be proposed for the newsletter and we will investigate them. Thanks again for your interest and I can't wait for your involvement.

Our website is growing....

 Welcome to the Synergy that is Pet Search. We are embracing new technologies and tools to help reunite lost pets across Australia and you are a part of this. Over this last few weeks, we have been developing some new parts of our website:

1.Our newsletter - people can subscribe to our newsletter, read previous newsletters, submit content, ask questions and see which lost pets have been reunited.

2. Free forum - we have introduced a free forum on our site where you can post details of lost and found pets, talk to other pet owners or pet lovers and we hope that over time it will develop to an online community.

3. FAQ -we have posted the most commonly asked questions and their answers about Pet Search on our website.

4. Photos and video of lost pets - We will be introducing an option to include another photo for lost pets and the option for owners to provide video of their lost pet (extremely helpful for missing birds who can talk or perform other distinctive behaviour).

We welcome any feedback you have on our website and also any suggestions on what other things you would like included.

Attention Veterinary Practices and Animal Welfare Agencies

Pet Search has access to the following microchip registries and can look up and contact owners of stray animals that have come into your care. Rather than you having to ring each registry individually, you can make one phone call to us and we can check the following:

* NSW companion animal registry (NSW CAR)
* Central Animal Records (CAR)
* Australasian Animal Register (AAR)
* Pet Safe

Please update your facility’s stray animal procedures to include Pet Search as the first place to contact with strays. You can phone (1300 309 004) or fax (1300 760 836) the details of the stray animals to us.

If the microchip is not on any of these registries we can assist with tracking microchips back to the distributors to try to find who the batch of microchips was sold to and potentially who microchipped the animal and this person may be able to help locate the owner. While it is not always successful as it relies on a paper trail of microchip implanting or change of ownership forms, it has helped us reunite the lost pet in a lot of cases.
